Not only are JLF researchers helping to shape the discussion surrounding the lottery and education spending, we’ve also helped to shape the discussion on amending the state Constitution in favor of property rights.  Daren Bakst, whose been hammering home the need for a Constitutional amendment to protect the property rights of North Carolinians, most recently featured in the Wilmington Star-News and the Greenville Daily Reflector, was dismayed when the House Select Committee on Eminent Domain had essentially recommended to do nothing to existing eminent domain law. On the upside, it appears that some legislative leaders have taken heed of Daren’s research. See the Senator Smith’s bill on the matter.
