Davidson College has banned Chick-Fil-A. Students protested and “nearly 500” signed a petition to prohibit the food service at any campus sanctioned events. No word on how the other 1,420 students felt.
A search of the academic course catalog reveals that there are no courses at Davidson teaching the “US Constitution” or “free speech”. Search for “first amendment” brings up Political Science 301 – Civil Liberties “with special focus on the Bill of Rights and the 14th Amendment”
With tuition and fees at Davidson topping out at $52,155 per year, kind of makes you wonder what you get for your money.
BTW: Truett Cathy, founder of Chick-Fil-A attended Boys High School in Atlanta. Upon graduation, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. When he returned from service to his country, he opened a restaurant with his brother called the Dwarf Grill that has grown into the Chick-Fil-A chain of restaurants. As of March, 2012, his net worth is $1.3 Billion.
