The ethical cloud surrounding Meredith Norris, former aide to House
Speaker Jim Black, mushroomed this week as questions grew over
whether she was acting as a lobbyist for Scientific Games while the
lottery bill was being drafted. On Tuesday, Don Carrington told
listeners to WTKF-FM along the coast that she says she was “monitoring”
things for the company but documents show she was, in essence, a
lobbyist who hadn’t registered as one. He also updated Lockwood
Phillips on the sentencing of former U.S. Rep. Frank Ballance and the tragic twist in the Currituck Ferry saga. 
Thursday morning, Donna Martinez discussed Norris with WPTF’s Kevin
Miller, as well as the larger question of a concentrated power in the
General Assembly.
