The WBT Radio morning show welcomed Jeff Taylor back to the airwaves this week to discuss Mecklenburg County’s property tax revaluation and tax hikes. Taylor also joined WBT’s Tara Servatius for a conversation involving both taxes and a celebration of the Racial Justice Act in Durham. During their trip to Hickory for last weekend’s Western Tea Party Summit, John Locke Foundation Vice President for Outreach Becki Gray and Carolina Journal Managing Editor Rick Henderson joined Matt Mittan on WWNC Radio’s “Take A Stand” program. JLF Vice President for Research and Resident Scholar Roy Cordato also earned radio airtime this week. He discussed a range of issues Thursday with Chad Adams on Wilmington’s WLTT morning show. President John Hood also made his regular weekly appearance with Bill LuMaye on WPTF Radio’s afternoon show. (Earlier in the week, LuMaye interviewed JLF Shaftesbury Society speaker Randal O’Toole about Raleigh’s public transit foibles.) Speaking of Hood, N.C. Senate Republicans promoted three of his columns this week in their daily e-mail messages. The Daily Journal columns addressed development in Africa, the Senate budget process, and proposed Medicaid cuts. Hood’s regular contributions to National Review Online’s blog, “The Corner,” attracted attention from Top Conservative Blogs, Conservative Blog Watch, Liberal Whoppers, and Topix.com. The Raleigh Examiner noted Hood’s planned participation this weekend in the Eastern North Carolina Tea Party Summit in Wilmington. Speaking of that summit, nearly 1,000 people called in this week to hear JLF Vice President for Communications Jon Ham help brief people about this weekend’s events. In addition to Hood and Ham, Gray will attend this weekend’s summit. Gray spoke this week to the Monroe Republican Forum about the North Carolina impact of federal health-care reform. In other news, N.C. History Project Director Troy Kickler‘s recent column about the misuse of the term “fair share” in census discussions attracted attention this week from the Elko Daily Free Press.
