People in Brunswick County have an opportunity Saturday to learn more about the U.S. Constitution. Michael Sanera, John Locke Foundation Director of Research and Local Government Studies, and Troy Kickler, N.C. History Project Director, travel to Bolivia to present their Citizen’s Constitutional Workshop on the Founders and state ratification conventions. The Wilmington Star-News “Cape Fear Watchdogs” blog promoted the event. Kickler discussed similar constitutional themes during a presentation this week in Greensboro to C4GC and the Wake Up Republican Women’s Club. Kickler also learned recently that his article on Wendell Berry has been published in the Encyclopedia of American Environmental History. Becki Gray, JLF Vice President for Outreach, spent time on the road and on the air this week. She delivered a legislative preview to listeners of WTSB Radio, then returned later in the week for a recap. Gray fills in this morning as a guest host on WPTF Radio. She also returns this weekend to the N.C. Spin syndicated television program. The Goldsboro News-Argus promoted Gray’s speech this week to the Goldsboro Republican Club. She speaks Saturday at the American Majority activist training associated with the Outer Banks Tea Party. Speaking of Tea Party activity, the News & Observer‘s “WakeEd” blog noted JLF participation in an upcoming tax-day Tea party in Greensboro that will also feature Wake County school board member John Tedesco. The N&O also mentioned the John Locke Foundation in an “Under the Dome” blog post about the N.C. Association of Educators’ plans to boycott businesses associated with JLF Founding Chairman Art Pope. Mitch Kokai discussed legislative issues this week during a presentation to the Wake County Taxpayers Association. He recapped this week’s legislative developments during an appearance with Curtis Wright this morning on WAAV/WFNC Radio. One week ago, WTVD Television interviewed Kokai for stories on Gov. Beverly Perdue’s government reorganization plan and the likelihood of program cuts in the next state budget. Libertarian blogger Max Borders’ Idea Matters update recently highlighted a CarolinaJournal.tv video clip of Mount Olive College economist Paul Cwik’s recent presentation to the JLF Shaftesbury Society on problems associated with Keynesian economics.
