What: A group of North Carolinians in 1990 created the John Locke Foundation as an independent, nonprofit think tank that would work “for truth, for freedom, and for the future of North Carolina.”

The foundation now celebrates 16 years of publishing studies and periodicals, hosting events, and making media and public appearances to promote innovative solutions to the problems North Carolinians worry about most – including government corruption and wasteful spending, crushing tax burdens on families and businesses, and a decline of individual freedom and self-reliance.

Who: Winston S. Churchill III will help the foundation celebrate its anniversary. He is an author, journalist, Parliamentarian, and grandson of Britain’s legendary Prime Minister. During World War II, Prime Minister Churchill refused to yield to the worldwide threats of Nazism and fascism. Now his grandson will address the topic “Confronting the Challenge of Islamic Fundamentalism.”
