And perhaps you had heard that it was among the ostensibly “academic” centers that was closed by the UNC Board.
Well, IT’S BACK.
In today’s Pope Center piece, Jay Schalin writes about the “North Carolina Poverty Research Fund” that is Gene Nichol’s way of keeping his pet project of railing against anyone who thinks that government is not the best way of reducing poverty going. There would be nothing to complain about if Nichol just did his socialistic ranting on his own, but this new “Fund” operates under the UNC logo, using university resources.
UNC, Schalin concludes, should not be “the private fiefdom of the loudest and most self-serving members of the faculty.”
