John Locke Foundation research made its way into the public record of the N.C. House’s debates this week. Rep. Bryan Holloway, R-Stokes, cited and displayed a copy of a school testing report from Terry Stoops as the House discussed a school testing bill. The Lincoln Tribune also highlighted Stoops’ recommendations for a statewide public school curriculum audit. The Wilmington Star-News interviewed Michael Sanera for an article about the likelihood of state and municipal worker layoffs because of current budget shortfalls. The Star-News also interviewed Joseph Coletti for an article focusing more specifically on the prospect of state government layoffs. The High Point Enterprise interviewed Daren Bakst, Director of Legal and Regulatory Studies, for an article about annexation reform. The Heritage Foundation’s “Insider” and the Hawaii Free Press both promoted new research from Jon Sanders, Associate Director of Research, critiquing North Carolina’s state lottery. Sanders’ latest TownHall.com column focuses on comparisons between President Obama and Ronald Reagan. Websites including USAToday.com picked up Sanders’ column.
