John Locke Foundation experts will help Tea Party groups across the state this weekend and Monday as they mark the annual deadline for filing income tax returns. Executive Vice President Kory Swanson will address groups in Waynesville, Morganton, and New Bern. Vice President for Outreach Becki Gray will speak to Tea Party groups in Wilmington and Morehead City. N.C. History Project Director Troy Kickler joins Gray in Morehead City. Joseph Coletti, JLF Director of Health and Fiscal Policy Studies, heads to Shelby and Goldsboro. Jon Sanders, Associate Director of Research, speaks in Raleigh, while Mitch Kokai, Director of Communications, heads to Southern Pines. While not delivering featured remarks, interns Kellie Slappey and Lauren Uberseder will distribute as many as 500 JLF tea bags to a Tea Party gathering in Greensboro. In addition to Tea Party events, Gray spoke this week to the Roxboro Kiwanis Club and the Crystal Coast Republican Women. Terry Stoops, Director of Education Studies, discussed local control, school choice, and education legislation during a FreedomWorks presentation in Franklin. Stoops also traveled to Winston-Salem to participate as a panelist for a Civitas Institute K-12 education budget seminar. Carolina Journal Managing Editor Rick Henderson joined a Campbell University Law School class to discuss water policy issues under consideration at the General Assembly.
