As Tax Day approaches, more North Carolinians are taking part in tax protest “tea parties” across the state. John Locke Foundation staffers are sharing their expertise and offering the protesters some ammunition. Legal and Regulatory Policy Analyst Daren Bakst spoke at a tea party this week estimated to have attracted 1,000 people or more to downtown Wilmingtion.  Vice President for Outreach Becki Gray‘s appearance at a Charlotte tea party last weekend led to an interview with News 14 Carolina. The New Bern Sun Journal also highlighted the Locke Foundation’s involvement in a tax day protest scheduled in Craven County. (The march and program, including a speaker from the John Locke Foundation, is planned for 6 to 8 p.m. and all are welcome.) Despite these local media reports, national news outlets have said little about the tea party movement. It’s an omission that attracted the attention of JLF Vice President for Communications Jon Ham, who discussed tea parties and Mark Levin’s new book in the latest “Media Mangle” column. That column prompted WPTF Radio’s morning show to interview Ham this week.
