Back in the days of Stalin, an excuse that was trotted out time and again for the low performance of Soviet factories was that “wreckers” were sabotaging them. Every now and then hapless people were arrested, tried, and executed for “wrecking” to keep the excuse going.

About the only area in the country where you find good job growth is within the confines of the federal bureaucracy — and that’s the cause of the lousy economic outlook everywhere else.
