Jeff Elder at the Charlotte Observer appears to be reading JLF’s weblog, “The Locker Room.” Last week the paper published a blog posting by Jeff A. Taylor about the visit by NASCAR officials to the city, and city leaders’ efforts to create a good impression by asking fans to line the streets in support of the proposed Hall of Fame. “Make clear that you ache to fork over your hard-earned tax dollars in service of the Lords of the Left-Turn,” Taylor wrote. On Wednesday, Michael Lowrey was interviewed by News14 Carolina about the NASCAR visit, and John Hood did a similar interview with WBT-AM in Charlotte. The city is one of several lining up to dole out public money in exchange for the museum. But not everyone thinks it’s appropriate – including racing insider Bob Labonte— father of drivers, Terry and Bobby, and a city councilman in Trinity. Read the story here.
