If your head is spinning because of the shuffle going on in Raleigh and in Washington, join the club.

Earlier this week, we learned that Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx will be leaving the Queen City to become President Obama’s transportation secretary.

We also found out that longtime state Rep. Jerry Dockham, R-Davidson, has been tapped by Gov. Pat McCrory for a seat on the N.C. Utilities Commission.

Now we learn that 12th District Democratic Congressman Mel Watt has been nominated by President Obama to lead the Federal Housing Finance Agency.

And state Rep. Deborah Ross, D-Wake, will leave here House seat to become the general counsel for Triangle Transit.

Former state Rep. Grier Martin, D-Wake, appears at the front of the line to assume Ross’ seat. The two were double-bunked in House District 34 and Martin chose not to challenge Ross in a primary.

There could be a scramble to replace Watt, who has been in Congress since he was first elected in 1992.

The Charlotte Observer reports a handful of Democrats already expressing interest in running for a special election for Watt’s seat. By the way, it’s a highly Democratic district.
